In this article, learn about the following Eargo 8 charger FAQs:

1. How do I charge my charger?

You can charge your charger one of two ways:

  1. Wall or USB: Use the included USB-C cable and adaptor.

  2. Wirelessly: Place on a compatible mat (not included) with the LEDs facing upwards. The coil is located in the back of the charger. Learn more

2. How do I charge my Eargo devices?

First, position your device above its cradles. Ensure the removal thread is pointing up and the trumpet is pointing out. The L/R marker should be centered and facing straight up. Press down on it with your thumb to make sure it's fully inserted. Next, close the charger lid, ensuring the removal threads do not get caught.

3. How long do my Eargos take to charge?

A fully charged Eargo 8 charger provides up to 14 full charges to the Eargo 8 hearing devices. Your Eargo 8 hearing devices last up to 16 hours when fully charged. Hearing devices may produce feedback noise (chirping or whistling) when placed into a depleted charger. If this happens, plug in your charger.

Choose somewhere other than the bathroom to charge, as long-term exposure to moisture can harm your Charger or Hearing Devices.

4. How do I check the charge levels?

To see the charge level of your Eargo system with devices inside the charger, simply open or close the lid to activate the indicator lights. Hearing device and charger LEDs are also displayed when you insert or remove a hearing device, or by applying or removing power to the charger.

5. How can I tell if my charger and hearing devices are actively charging?

The charger charge state LED provides information about the charge level and connectivity state of the charger. The charger battery will charge when the charger is connected to a power source (e.g., USB-C power cord and power adaptor).

When your Eargo 8 devices are correctly placed inside and actively charging (or fully charged), the hearing device charge state LEDs on the far left and right sides of the charger will provide you with information about their charge level and connectivity state.

Hearing device and charger LEDS:

  • Solid Green: 100% charged

  • Breathing Green: 25-99% charged

  • Breathing Red: Less than 25% and charging

Charger charge state - unplugged:

  • Solid Green: 25-100% charged

  • Solid Red: Less than 25% charging

6. What do blue lights mean?

The indicator lights also tell you about system connectivity. Pulsing blue lights indicate a communication state. They are seen when the charger is establishing a connection to the hearing devices and also during updates from the Eargo mobile app.

  • Solid Blue: Bluetooth pairing and connection with the Eargo mobile app

  • Breathing Blue: Programming/updating in progress via the Eargo mobile app

7. What do red lights mean?

Double-flashing red lights indicate an error state.

  • All 3 LEDs Flashing Red: Update error in the Eargo mobile app - follow the prompts in the app to troubleshoot

  • Hearing Device LED(s) Flashing Red: Hearing device charging has been interrupted - remove and correctly re-insert the hearing device(s) into the cradle.

8. Why do the indicator lights turn off?

Indicator lights turn off after approximately 12 seconds. This is to minimize battery drain. It's also for convenience so that the lights don’t disturb you should you choose to charge your device bedside while you sleep.
