How do I use the remote control feature in the Eargo app?

For the best results, please hold your mobile device as pictured below when making Sound Adjust+ adjustments.

On iOS:

To temporarily prioritize your Hearing Device settings for loud environments in your active program, we recommend you set your iPhone's volume to 75% with Eargo app v3.0 or later. Maximum volume may be required, especially in noisy environments.

The minimum phone volume required to use the remote control successfully on an Apple device is 20%. The icon on the home screen will notify you on any of the control screens when the volume on your phone is too low (below 20%).

Ignoring this alert may prevent your Eargos from syncing with the app. Tap the icon anytime to view instructions or use your phone’s volume up or down buttons to adjust the volume for the remote control.

On Android:

To temporarily prioritize your Hearing Device settings for loud environments in your active program, we recommend you set your Android phone's volume between 60-100% with Eargo app v3.0 or later. Your device cannot be set to mute, vibrate, or Do Not Disturb. Maximum volume may be required, especially in noisy environments.

This slide-up screen will only appear on the control screens once per session. If your Android device volume is below 60% and you close and relaunch the app or navigate to the app menu and return to the control screens, the mobile app will notify you again that an adjustment is needed. Selecting ignore may prevent your Eargos from syncing with the app.

What is Sound Adjust+?

Eargo 7’s new Sound Adjust+ provides more sophisticated sound processing in loud environments and is active in your Eargo 7 devices right out of the box! Sound Adjust+ analyzes the sound scape, then automatically chooses whether to emphasize speech (e.g. conversation in a restaurant or coffee shop) or reduce noise for comfort (e.g. outdoor noise including construction, traffic, leafblowers, etc.).

Sound Adjust+ acts on top of the noise filter once the noise in the environment around you reaches a certain threshold over time. By contrast, the noise filter is always on by default and reduces stationary/steady noise no matter how loud it is in the environment around you.

How do I use the Sound Adjust+ control(s)?

Learn about making lasting changes to persistently toggle Sound Adjust+ on or off for any program here.

You can temporarily prioritize your Hearing Device settings for loud environments in your active program using the Sound Adjust+ control on the Noise screen. Tap “Emphasize Speech” (CLARITY) or “Reduce noise for comfort” (COMFORT) to temporarily override the automatic setting for Sound Adjust+. To clear your selection on your active program, select “Automatically adjust” to return to default settings. When the remote control command is received successfully by your Eargos, you’ll hear an audible double beep in each Device.

Navigating away from the current program to a different one available in your Eargos clears any temporary adjustments you may have made and restores all program defaults.

If you find you are regularly applying Sound Adjust+ changes to any of your programs, discuss this with your Personal Hearing Professional. Please contact them or log into My Account to create a Support Request.
