Your Eargo devices can hold up to 4 listening programs. What is the “Normal” program?

This program is personalized to your Sound Match results for each ear. Use the Normal program for everyday quiet listening. Any additional programs you select will optimize the devices based on your Sound Match results and the selected listening environment. To learn more about Eargo Environmental Settings, click here.

What are Preset Programs?

Eargo devices arrive with four Preset Programs inside. Amplification, especially for speech, increases as you move from Preset Program 1 to Preset Program 4. We recommend completing Sound Match to fully personalize your devices, but if you are still using Preset Programs, spend time in each one and select, for each ear, the one that is most comfortable for you when listening to speech in quiet conditions. Just like in our Neo and Neo HiFi products, Eargo offers you the option of selecting a “favorite” Preset Program. Once selected, you’ll have access to the Eargo Environmental Settings like Restaurant and Phone. These will use the selected Favorite Preset as their baseline.

How do I use the remote control feature in the Eargo app?

You can use your mobile phone as a remote control to discreetly switch between programs instead of using your index finger to double-tap your ear.

For the best results, please hold your mobile device as pictured below when making filter level adjustments.

On iOS:

To adjust your programs, we recommend you set your iPhone's volume to 100% with Eargo app v4.0 or later. Maximum volume may be required, especially in noisy environments.

The minimum phone volume required to use the remote control successfully on an Apple device is 20%. The icon on the home screen will notify you on any of the control screens when the volume on your phone is too low (below 20%).

Ignoring this alert may prevent your Eargos from syncing with the app. Tap the icon anytime to view instructions or use your phone’s volume up or down buttons to adjust the volume for the remote control.

On Android:

To adjust your programs, we recommend setting your Android phone volume between 60-100% with Eargo app v4.0 or later. Your device cannot be set to mute, vibrate, or Do Not Disturb. Maximum volume may be required, especially in noisy environments.

This slide-up screen will only appear on the control screens once per session. If your Android device volume is below 60% and you close and relaunch the app or navigate to the app menu and return to the control screens, the mobile app will notify you again that an adjustment is needed. Selecting ignore may prevent your Eargos from syncing with the app.

What does the green badge displayed on my active program icons represent?

The green badge displayed on an active program icon on the Programs and Edit Programs screens indicates that Eargo 6's Sound Adjust and Eargo 7's Sound Adjust+ are enabled. When Sound Adjust/Sound Adjust+ is toggled off, the green badge will not be visible. Sound Adjust/Sound Adjust+ is enabled by default for all programs including Factory Preset Programs 1-4, your “Normal” program if you’ve completed Sound Match, and any active environmental programs you’ve selected.

How do I enable/disable Sound Adjust/Sound Adjust+?

To enable or disable Eargo 6's Sound Adjust and Eargo 7's Sound Adjust+ features, tap Edit at the bottom of the Programs screen. Select the program you’d like to edit by tapping on it. This will bring up a menu list. To disable or enable this feature, select the Sound Adjust/Sound Adjust+ toggle. When the remote control command is received successfully by your Eargos, you’ll hear an audible double beep in each device. Tap “Done” on the Edit Programs screen to return to the Programs control screen.

How do I Sync my Eargos when their settings don’t match what’s being displayed in the app?

If you’ve recently made lasting adjustments to your devices using the remote control feature and your Eargos are announcing something other than what you see on the Programs control screen, we’ve got you covered! Pop your Hearing Devices into the Charger and replace the lid. From the Programs screen, select "Program Sync". Next, tap “Sync” and in just a few minutes your Eargos will be back in sync with the mobile app and you’ll be ready to go. You can use this feature on the Programs control screen anytime you may have unexpected settings in your Eargo devices.

How do I edit my Programs?

You can also edit which programs are inside your Eargo devices, enabling and/or disabling up to 3. Please note that you cannot disable “Normal” or a favorited Preset Program. If you’ve updated your mobile app to the latest version, when you disable a program you’ll hear each device announce “Off.” When you enable a program again, you’ll hear “On” or the name of the active program when the remote control command is received successfully by your Eargos.

Sound Tuning - Lasting Adjustments to Sound Quality

You can also use Sound Tuning to make lasting adjustments to the Volume, Treble, and Bass in any of your selected programs. Sound Tuning “remembers” your settings so that they’re set how you like each time you put your Eargos in!

Please make sure your Eargos are in your ears when making programming changes from your Mobile device!

Sounds good! How is it done?

From the Home Screen, tap Programs. The screen shows you which programs are active inside your Eargo hearing devices. You can have up to four programs inside and must have at least one program. Identical programs are not allowed.

Changing the active program to a different one (e.g. moving from Program 1 to Program 2)

Tap the program you’d like to use and the devices will change into that program.

Your devices will both move into the selected program. Each device will announce the name of the program you’ve selected to move into.

To move programs in only one ear, you’ll need to use your finger to double-tap in front of your ear. A quick double tap to each device will change it into the next listening program. Depending on the placement in your ear, and your unique anatomy, where you tap might need to be adjusted.

Edit which programs are inside Eargo.

Tap Edit to make changes to your programs. Select one of your programs by tapping on it.

This will bring up a menu list:

  • To enable/disable a program, select “Enable/Disable program”

  • To select a different program to load into your Eargo devices, choose “Change program” and tap the one you’d like to add then tap “Apply”

Sound Adjust will be enabled by default in any newly added program.

Use Sound Tuning to apply lasting adjustments to programs.

Tap Edit Pencil to make changes to your programs. Select one of your programs by tapping on it.

This will bring up a menu list:

  • Select "Sound Tuning" from the list.

  • At the top of the screen, you will see which Program you are tuning. Both ears are selected by default.

  • You can select one ear by tapping the image of the Right or Left device.

  • To re-select both ears, tap the middle of the oval.

Sound Tuning Screen

The Sound Tuning screen is for fine-tuning a program to your preference. Sound Tuning will remember your choices and will always apply them when you select the program.

The top bar shows you which program you are tuning. You can cancel at any time. When you are done, tap Done.

You can apply Sound Tuning to one or both ears. Tap L to tune the Left device, R to tune the Right device, or tap the center to tune both devices.

You can increase or decrease Volume, for one or both ears.

  • Tap the minus to decrease and tap the plus to increase.

If you’ve updated your mobile app to the latest version, each tap of the plus or minus buttons should result in an audible double beep in each device when the remote control command is received successfully by your Eargos.

Your Eargo Hearing Devices have maximum and minimum volume settings. You may increase or decrease the volume 2 steps up or 2 steps down on any listening program.

  • If you're an Eargo 7 customer, when you reach the upper limit of your volume range, you'll hear "Max" to let you know you've reached the top. When you reach the lower limit, you'll hear "Min" to let you know you've reached the bottom.

  • If you're an Eargo 5 or Eargo 6 customer, continuing to tap on the + or - buttons beyond the 2-step limit won’t result in an additional volume change even though you may still hear the double beep indicator in your devices.

The selected volume level(s) will be applied to the device(s) every time the program is active or selected.

You can increase or decrease Treble, for one or both ears.

  • Increasing the Treble can add clarity

  • Decreasing the Treble can reduce the sharpness of sound

The selected treble level(s) will be applied to the device(s) every time the program is active or selected.

You can increase or decrease Bass, for one or both ears.

  • Increasing the Bass can add roundness and volume to the sound

  • Decreasing the Bass can reduce the loudness for lower-pitched sounds

If you’ve updated your mobile app to the latest version, each tap of the plus or minus buttons for Treble or Bass adjustments should result in an audible double beep in each device when the remote control command is received successfully by your Eargos.

Your Eargo Hearing Devices also have maximum and minimum Treble and Bass settings. You may increase or decrease the Treble or Bass 2 steps up or 2 steps down on any listening program.

  • If you're an Eargo 7 customer, when you reach the upper limit of your Treble and Bass range, you'll hear "Max" to let you know you've reached the top.

The selected bass level(s) will be applied to the device(s) every time the program is active or selected.

When you have finished Sound Tuning, hit Done.

You may now select another program, or if you are finished, select Done.
