Get the very best out of your Eargo experience by being an active listener. Here are some useful strategies for you and your conversation partners that will help you hear life to the fullest.

  • If the listening situation is noisy, try to position yourself so the main source of background noise is behind you.

  • Depending on your product, try the Noise Filter*, Volume, and Bass/Treble* settings for your selected Programs. Reducing the Bass can help with background noise, and increasing the Treble can help with speech clarity.

  • Sit close to the sound source at meetings, lectures, and places of worship.

  • Try an Environmental Setting to support your listening needs. For example, the Restaurant or Meeting programs.

  • Outdoor dining often makes group conversations easier.

  • Certain apps (e.g. Yelp, SoundPrint, etc.) will often tell you how noisy a venue is.

  • Closed captioning reduces listening effort, especially when the program has sound effects or a soundtrack.

  • Not sure how noisy it is? Download a sound level meter app and use it to get an estimate.

  • Limit your exposure to very loud sound, and always use hearing protection around intense noise (e.g. power tools, concerts, sports stadiums, fireworks, firearms).

  • Protect your ears: exposure to very loud sounds can damage your hearing. Hearing protection (e.g. foam ear plugs) is always recommended and should be used around high-level noise (e.g. power tools, fireworks, etc.) in place of your Eargo Devices.
