It is very important that you brush the earbuds clean after use. Wax, oil, or other debris can get into the sound inlets and outlet, which may cause the hearing aid to have poor sound quality or even no sound.

See the graphic below to identify the landmarks you’ll need to keep clean.

Your earbuds come with a brush tool, for daily maintenance.

We recommend the Eargo Deep Cleaning Kit, available at eargo.com/accessories for monthly maintenance.

We also suggest having a lint-free microfiber cloth handy (not included).

Daily Cleaning

Clean the eartips. With the eartips attached, use the bristles to brush the silicone and the sound outlet area:

Use the wire loop to remove any visible wax from the sound outlet area:

Clean the microphones. Use the bristles to brush the two sound inlets on the comet logo side:

Clean the charging contacts. Use the bristles to brush the gold contacts clean:

Finally, wipe. Use a lint-free cloth (not included) over the entire earbud to complete the daily cleaning process:

Deep Cleaning

Every couple of weeks we suggest you use the Eargo Deep Cleaning Kit to maintain your earbuds. The putty is great for removing visible and non-visible debris from the tiny nooks and crannies of the Sound Outlets and Sound Inlets. The alcohol wipe is great at breaking down build-up like wax, oil, and sweat.

First, remove the eartips (see article Find The Perfect Fit - Eartips) and locate the sound outlet and sound inlet areas on your earbuds.

  • Wipe first. Use the alcohol wipe all over your bare devices. Let dry.

  • Brush. Use the brush provided in your box to brush the Sound Outlets and Sound Inlets.

  • Use the putty.

    • Knead the putty and make it into a roll or a ball. Hold putty in one hand and hearing device in the other.

    • Gently press the putty into the Sound Outlet and peel it away, a few times.

    • Gently press the putty into the Sound Inlet and peel it away, a few times.

      • This should clean up the mesh where amplified sound enters and exits the device.

  • Repeat on the other device.

  • Wipe again. Reuse the alcohol wipe all over the bare devices one more time, to remove any residue.

  • Replace your Eartips. The Deep Cleaning process is complete!
